Minnelli Continues Her Fall From Stardom

Liza Minnelli's been through a lot. If the substance abuse, several stints in rehab, and nearly dying from a bout of what was widely reported as encephalitis weren't enough, the entertainer visited a psychiatric center to deal with issues stemming from her heavily-publicized divorce from David Gest. And the list continues to grow.

Minnelli collapsed on stage a few songs into a performance in Sweden's second city and was taken to hospital before being discharged on Thursday, a concert promoter said. Minnelli collapsed during a Christmas show Wednesday night and fell off the side of the stage but was caught by a technician and escaped additional injuries, said Michael Silfverskiold, a local promoter.

"It was a terrible situation," he said. "She fell off the side of the stage. The production manager caught her." She was discharged from the hospital Thursday morning and flown back to the United States, Silfverskiold said. He did not know the cause of the collapse and had no other information about her medical condition.
In obvious pain as a result of the fall, Minnelli didn't give the crowd the performance they had come to see. Police were called after many angry concert-goers had demanded their money back.

At the rate Minnelli is going, we think it's only a matter of time before we confuse her 2002 Broadway stage production Liza's Back! with something an assistant will frantically cry out backstage while searching for a medical professional.
