Bobby Murcer, the former Yankee and current YES announcer, learned yesterday morning that a recent MRI image that had concerned doctors turned out to be scar tissue, not a recurrence of cancer.Murcer hopes to be ready for broadcasting duties on Opening Day at the end of the month. This recent scare strikes us more as a balk than a free pass.
"We received great news this morning," he said in a statement issued by YES. "The biopsy revealed scar tissue. It showed no signs of cancer. We are very excited about this news. It's what we had hoped for all along."
